stress FX works by appointment only. We are happy to schedule appointments by phone or email. We can be reached at (505) 790-9079 or massage@stressfx.com.
Please arrive early for your scheduled appointment to ensure adequate time to discuss any changes in your health or medical status, as well as use the restroom, etc. It is your responsibility to be aware of the scheduled appointment time. Reminder calls are not provided. If you are arriving late, please give us a courtesy call. We cannot extend your treatment time into the next appointment, but you will receive the remainder of your allotted time at the full session price. If you are more than 15 minutes late and we do not hear from you, you will be considered a “no-show” and charged accordingly.
New clients
Please arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. This allows for a thorough consultation and evaluation once you have completed the medical history form. By arriving a few minutes early, your scheduled appointment time is spent working on you.
Established clients
Please arrive 5 - 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. This allows us to cover any new information pertinent to your treatment, as well as see how you responded to your last treatment.
Your appointment time has been set aside especially for you, so please call as soon as possible if you are unable to keep the appointment. With advanced notice, we can easily accommodate your needs and schedule.
Except in the case of an emergency, we request 24 hours notice of a cancellation. The definition of an emergency is illness of self, partner or immediate family, car dysfunction, or bad weather.
If you do not provide 24 hour notice you may be charged for services. Please call the office to let us know of schedule changes or cancellations. Email within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time is not a reliable form of communicating a cancellation. If you have a Monday morning appointment, please contact us no later than Friday morning if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Sometimes emergencies arise that do not permit you to notify us beforehand. That is understandable. Please call us as soon as possible to explain your absence. If you miss a scheduled appointment and do not contact us, you will be charged in full for the missed appointment. If you are more than 15 minutes late and we do not hear from you, you will be considered a “no-show” and charged accordingly.
If you cannot make your appointment, but can find someone to take your appointment, you are welcome to make the substitution as long as the other person is an established client of stress FX who has already been seen in the clinic. Please do not substitute in a “new client”. A “new client” appointment is scheduled to provide extra time for the initial consultation and assessment.
If you are feeling sick, or have been exposed to someone who is contagious, please be courteous and cancel your appointment. By exposing your therapist, you expose many other people. If you are unsure whether or not to cancel, please call the office to discuss your situation with your therapist. If you discover that you are contagiously ill after your appointment, please call to notify us as soon as possible so that we limit exposure to vulnerable clients. Please refer to the rescheduling and canceling appointments section.
We recognize that weather can be erratic at times. Parts of the city can be sunny while other areas experience a thunderstorm. If you are uncomfortable driving, or businesses in your area have closed due to bad weather, please call to let us know. We would rather reschedule your appointment than risk your safety. Unless you hear from the office, assume that the office is open, even during snow. Please refer to the rescheduling and canceling appointments section.
stress FX does not provide daycare. Please do not leave children unattended in the waiting area. Children are welcome in the treatment room if they will not disrupt the treatment.
Payment is due at the time of service; cash or checks are the accepted forms of payment. stress FX does not accept insurance, but will provide paperwork for you to submit to insurance, flex spending or a health savings account (FSA or HSA).
stress FX adheres to the ABMP and NCTMB codes of ethics. You will not be denied services based on race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or handicapping conditions.
All client records and transactions are confidential, unless release of these records is authorized in writing by the client, or otherwise requested by a court of law. You have the right to complete and current information and documentation concerning the therapist's assessment and treatment. You may request copies of your records at anytime. There may be a small fee for copies.
All information gathered during the intake or the massage is kept strictly confidential. If you wish your progress to be discussed with others, you may give stress FX express permission to share specific information with individuals you designate, such as your doctor, physical therapist, personal trainer, family member, or other massage therapist. Records can be transferred after written authorization has been received by this office.
You will be draped in accordance with standard practices and state law. This means the genital areas and, for women, the breasts will not be exposed.
Your health is dependent upon your participation prior to and during the treatment session. It is your responsibility to inform stress FX of any health-related matters and changes to such since your last visit. You are responsible for communicating any concerns, questions, pains and/or changes in your condition to the therapist prior to, during, and after the treatment. stress FX is not liable for distress resulting from the lack of disclosure on the client’s part.
Massage and bodywork can relax the body as well as the mind. In some cases bodily processes will be affected. Most bodily urges you have are completely natural and nothing to be embarrassed about. Passing gas or an urgent need to use the restroom is not unusual or offensive. If you need to leave the massage room or pause the treatment for any reason, it's completely acceptable. The massage can be resumed at the discretion of the client.
If you experience feelings of sensuality or sexual arousal during the massage, don’t panic. For example, an erection can be a natural body response in today’s society of limited physical contact; and it generally passes quickly. This alone is not cause for terminating a session. However, bodily reactions paired with inappropriate behavior or conversation will not be tolerated. If you are confused about your feelings, please discuss your concerns with your therapist in a neutral, respectful manner.
stress FX provides massage for therapeutic purposes only, and is completely non-sexual. Your cooperation is expected. Any comments, gestures, or suggestions of a sexual nature will not be tolerated. If inappropriate behavior does occur, the session will be immediately terminated and full payment will be due. Similarly, if you feel uncomfortable with your therapist for any reason, you have the right to terminate the treatment at any time with no expectation of being billed.
Massage and bodywork are designed to be a health aid, and are in no way to take the place of a doctor's care when it is indicated. Information exchanged during any treatment session is educational in nature. It is intended to help you become more familiar with and conscious of your own health status, and is to be used at your own discretion. Your therapist will be happy to explain the planned treatment and any procedures in general terms, as well as answer any questions related to the treatment.
stress FX does not provide a medical diagnosis or recommend discontinuance of medically prescribed treatments. Only a licensed physician or other qualified health care provider can provide a diagnosis. We are happy to work in conjunction with any health care providers you currently see.
stress FX reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. This includes, but is not limited to, anyone who requests services that are outside the therapist's scope of practice, anyone that is intoxicated, anyone who has a contagious illness, or for any other reason deemed necessary to maintain the health and safety of both client and therapist.
